The C22A is our best-selling alloy wheel so we didn’t want to mess with it, but we also wanted to add some features so it would appeal to more riders. We started by using a new alloy metal that is harder, stiffer and has higher strength. Sure, it’s slightly heavier (like that pesky mall cop that tried to stop you from riding through the mall), but we wanted a wheel that could handle anything from a gravel road to a race on a smooth road. And the biggest advantage to alloy rims is that you have consistent and powerful braking, even when you’re riding on wet and muddy roads. We made sure this wheelset was tough, but still looked good, by lacing the rim to our Hero hubs.

If you want maximum control and grip, you have the option of running these wheels with tubeless tyres. Tubeless tyres can be ridden at low pressure so you get a lot of traction with a lower chance of punctures. And since the C22W has a wide rim, you can run tyres up to 25c. If you’d prefer to ride fast on smooth roads, you’ll appreciate the aero profile that make slicing through the air a little easier.

To help you get down the road with more speed and less effort, build these wheels around our Hero hubs that house our ceramic TBT bearings – something that isn’t found on most wheels at this price. To ensure the bearings last longer, we precision machine the hubs with our WGM technology that requires the use of a 5-axis CNC machine so they sit perfectly in the hub.

Predictable braking is the best reason to use alloy, so what’s the other excellent reason? Cost – they are a lot more affordable than carbon wheels, with a small weight penalty.
